Nancy W. Riella, CPA, MBA, CSEP, CVA
Nancy started the firm in 1987. Prior to that, she worked at another small public accounting firm and then with the Internal Audit Department at Aetna in both the financial and information technology audit areas.
Experience:
Nancy has over 20 years of public and private accounting experience and specializes in small business and individual taxation, valuation and planning issues. Nancy has extensive industry experience including legal services support, manufacturing, not for profit, retail, and a variety of service industries. In addition, Nancy acquired two professional designations; CSEP: Certified Professional in Estate Planning in 1999 and CVA: Certified Valuation Analyst in 2001. Both of these designations enable Nancy to assist clients achieve business and personal goals as well as assisting the legal profession on behalf of her and other CPA's clients.
Nancy graduated Magna cum Laude from Quinnipiac University and also has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of New Haven.
Recent Accomplishments:
Nancy was the highest vote getter during the recent municipal elections in November 2007 garnering 59% of the popular vote. Nancy now serves on the Board of Assessment Appeals in Colchester, CT.
Professional and Personal Affiliations:
I personally believe everyone should give back to their profession and community.
I volunteer on the Peer Review and Continued Professional Education committees for the CT Society of Certified Public Accountants. I am currently the Vice-President of the CT Chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), and scheduled to become President in July, 2008. I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA); and the National Conference of CPA Practitioners.
I am very involved with Rotary International as a member of the Colchester Rotary Club, having held all offices. I am also involved with Rotary District 7980 as an Assistant-Governor through June, 2008 and am also involved on the Group Study Exchange Committee enabling foreign young professionals to experience local culture to help foster world peace.
Outside interests:
The boating season is too short! I enjoy kayaking as well as sailing aboard the sloop "Sea Biscuit". There's skiing in the winter, cycling and hiking the rest of the year as well. In the meantime, stop and dig in the garden to enjoy smelling the roses.
